NewSage — Privacy Policy

What we collect

Anonymous user ID. When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account via Supabase. This is a random UUID (for example, a3f4c2d8-…) that is not tied to your name, email, phone, or any other identifying information. We use this ID only to save your streak and lesson progress across app sessions.

Lesson progress. We record which lessons you've completed so your progress persists across app launches. This is stored in our database, linked only to your anonymous UUID.

Streak state. Your current streak, longest streak, and last completed date. Linked only to your anonymous UUID.

Content reports. If you tap "Report this content" on a lesson, we record which lesson you reported and any optional note you provided. This is linked to your anonymous UUID and is used solely to improve lesson quality.

Local storage. We store the following on your device only (never sent to our server): your chosen reminder time, your onboarding response (why you're here), and a local cache of lessons you've viewed for offline reading.

What we do NOT collect

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Date of birth
• Location
• Device contacts
• Photos or media
• Microphone or camera data
• Third-party analytics identifiers
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)

Third-party services

NewSage uses the following third parties only to operate the service. None receive any personally identifiable information.

Supabase — our database and backend. Stores your anonymous user row, lesson progress, streak, and content reports. Supabase privacy policy.

Anthropic (Claude API) — used server-side only to generate devotional reflection and prayer content. The requests sent to Anthropic contain only the course ID, lesson index, passage reference, course title, and lesson title hint. No user identifier, device ID, or user-authored text is ever sent to Anthropic. Anthropic privacy policy.

Cloudflare — used for Turnstile CAPTCHA on anonymous sign-in to prevent bot abuse. Cloudflare privacy policy.

Your rights

Because NewSage does not collect personal data, there is no traditional account to manage. However, you have full control over the data associated with your anonymous UUID:

• View: All the data linked to your UUID is visible in the app (streak, completed lessons).
• Delete: Tap Settings → Reset my data at any time. This immediately deletes your Supabase row, streak, progress, content reports, and local cache. There is no soft-delete and no recovery.

Children

NewSage is rated 4+ and is safe for children to use. We do not knowingly collect any information from users of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
